This past week, Leona Lewis and her Sysco label released the track “Collide,” which has caused quite a stir in the industry and among fans. The instrumental to her new song has been reported as sounding “identical” to Avicii’s (Swedish DJ Tim Berg’s) song called “Penguin,” also heard as “Fade Into The Darkness.” Lewis’ label has claimed that Avicii was credited as a songwriter, but is this a valid justification without permission? The two songs do sound very similar. Let us know how you feel. It will be interesting to see how things pan out, and we hope that credit is given where it is due and both artists, their management, and the labels can settle the dispute.
