EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH EPPIC
HypeTune.com: What is it like working with Tyler Ward and the crew? How has it helped you get to where you want to be in music?
Eppic: Working with Tyler Ward and the crew is amazing. Before I even met Tyler and Julia I thought they were already famous so the first couple of times I would work with them I would be so nervous that I would hardly talk because I didn’t want to make a fool out of myself. But now every time I work with them or even just hang out it drives me to work harder on my craft. The first time Tyler and I got in the studio to record ‘Doubt’ it was just an awesome experience and to have Julia on the song as well made it that much greater. I felt so accomplish afterwards. I’ve told Tyler multiple times that ever since I met him my work ethic has doubled, tripled even. With the crew the energy is just very positive whenever we are in the studio or on stage. Even though each of us have our own strengths and styles we all have love and passion for music and I think that’s why our music is so powerful.
HypeTune.com: How has YouTube impacted your musical career?
Eppic: Oh man, YouTube has impacted my musical career tremendously. I remember back in March I had only about 5 subscribers and I would probably get around 200 views or so on my videos. Then after Tyler and I did the Airplanes cover my subscriptions and views have increased so much. I definitely have to thank my fans for all their support and listening to my music. I never thought I would be in this position because of YouTube. I know I don’t have 100,000 subscribers, but still it feels great to know the people who have subscribed so far want to hear the new music I put out and see how far I go in my career.
HypeTune.com: What are your future goals in music?
Eppic: Hanging right above my bedroom door I actually have written 2 ultimate goals I want to accomplish in my music career and that is 1. Record a song with Eminem and 2. Be nominated first, but then eventually earn a Grammy. After I accomplish those two things I feel like I would be satisfied because Eminem has been a huge inspiration to me and to sit in the studio with him at least once would be the highlight of my music career, but we’ll see. That doesn’t mean I’ll stop working though, one of my dreams is to perform in Madison Square Garden as well, but that is far along down the road. Right now I’m just focusing on just making the best music that I can.
HypeTune.com: How did you choose the title to your new EP and what is the significance of the name?
Eppic: The title of my EP is called, Forever Imperfect, and how I came up with the name is I feel like as artist not only musicians, but painters, dancers, and anyone who expresses their self through a certain form of art are misunderstood. No matter what we do or create you are going to have some who like you and people who hate you, there is never going to be a mutual feeling towards one’s art. There are people who just don’t understand why we work so hard on our passions and why we sacrifice so much. Artists are always going to be looked at differently. We can’t please everybody though.
HypeTune.com: If you could have any artist featured in one of your songs, who would you choose and why?
Eppic: Dang, that is a hard question. I have a few artists in mind that I would love to get on a song with. Besides Eminem, I would have to say Jay-Z and Jennifer Hudson. Jay-Z because he is a genius when it comes to his lyrics and the music he produces and I would love to learn from him and to see how he works whenever he is in the studio. Jennifer Hudson because as a person she seems very humble, has great character, and that kind of vibe that would be great to work with. Not only is her album one my favorites, but she has such a powerful voice and so much energy in her music that it would be great working in the studio with her.
