Andrew Garcia is beyond brilliant. We’ve been fans of Garcia since his Youtube days where he covered popular songs, performed with The Adrian William project, and racked up millions of views. We were already amazed by his talent and reach, and were blown away when we saw him on a preview commercial for season 9 of American Idol. Garcia was a huge success on the show, which bolstered his career to where it needed to be for someone with such talent. Besides his vocal abilities and understanding of uniqueness and creativity, Garcia is a good father, soon-to-be husband, and an all-around great person. Those flat brimmed hats and big square glasses give him a unique look that stands out. Nothing, however, stands out like his voice. As Simon Cowell said after Garcia’s first audition on American Idol in L.A., “The only person who has walked through today who I genuinely believe is a good singer; a genuinely, genuinely good singer.” Randy Jackson commented, “My theory always is if you can sing, you can sing anything. Dude, you got mad vocals. That was excellent.” And with that came the musical roller-coaster that goes with the American Idol experience. Garcia wowed the nation with his spin on Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up,” and later with his renditions of “Gimme Shelter” by The Rolling Stones and Chris Brown’s hit song “Forever.”

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH ANDREW GARCIA
HypeTune.com: Before American Idol, you made a name for yourself on YouTube. How has YouTube influenced your career?
Andrew Garcia: Courage to get out and do music, with all the love I received from YouTube, it inspired me to get out there and audition, I can’t tell you how much I love my YouTube fans, they have been true to me and my foundation from the beginning.
HypeTune.com: How has your time as a contestant on Season 9 of American Idol shaped you as an artist?
Andrew Garcia. It helped me find myself as a performer; I was performing for 25 million every night. When I went on the A.I Tour (Season 9) it helped me mold my stage presence, I mean who can say they performed in front of a sold out crowed at the Championship Lakers home, The Staples Center. That day changed my life; I knew then that I wanted to do music FOREVER!!!!!
HypeTune.com: What was/were your source(s) of inspiration for “Crazy”? For the new EP?
Andrew Garcia: Just relationships in general and how they make you feel, how men never really express their feelings like we should. I wrote with Jesse Barrera, and my producer Chaaz Williams took the music to another level in the production and on top of that adding Tony Royster Jr. (World Renowned Drummer for Jay Z) to the mix, yes we are definitely shooting for the stars on this album, I promise!
HypeTune.com: You’ve worked hard to make music more than just a hobby. You’ve made it your life. A lot of struggling musicians aspire to reach that point in their lives. What advice would you give them?
Andrew Garcia: To just work hard, keep fighting to build your brand and your name. Hard work pays off, no matter what. I’m in the studio 20 hours at a time, even to this a day, because I really believe that every day I can do music as a career. If you want to make it, you gotta fight for it, no one is going to give it to you.
HypeTune.com: If you could have any artist remix “Crazy,” who would you choose and why?
Andrew Garcia: David Guetta, because I would want to see what he would do with it. He makes such great music; I hope one day we can work with him.
HypeTune.com: Which tattoo of yours is your favorite? What is its significance?
Andrew Garcia: Caeland, it’s my son, and that’s my biggest inspiration!
HypeTune.com: What can we expect from Andrew Garcia in the next few months with the release of the new EP?
Andrew Garcia: More shows, even more awareness & exposure to the Andrew Garcia Brand, great collaborations, and most of all me staying me. I’m a true believer that I will not change I may change where I live, what I drive and how I do things, but me as Andrew, I will stay the same. You will always be able to say Andrew Garcia has never changed.
