Avicii is taking big steps to increase his brand in the United States as electronic music begins to seep into the American music culture. He’s currently on a 26-stop tour across the nation. It seems like his rapidly-selling releases have done him well. Avicii plans to donate 100% of his US tour earnings to “Feeding America,” a hunger-relief charity. This is a sum of about $1 million. Avicii has concerns about the widespread poverty in the US. Check out what he had to say below. Complete list of the “House For Hunger” tour dates right after that.
“Hunger hits everywhere and the U.S. is not immune to it, for me personally, when I found out how widespread the hunger problem in the United States actually was, it blew my mind. I never would have imagined that 1 in 6 people in America struggle with hunger or that 1 in 4 children routinely do not get enough to eat.”
“I felt it was time to turn a corner and tear down the negative stereotypes of drugs and reckless partying often associated with the house/trance/dance music scene, as it’s a far cry from what the reality of electronic music is today”
From his manager - “So Avicii and I are putting our money where our mouth is and taking the first step to give back to the country and the fans that have helped shape our careers.”
